Chassis ept360014b RX distorted only in ssb for strong signals, AM normally, when I close rf gain the RX gets normal, Has anyone had this problem

what radio. its front end overload.
the old president jackson had that problem. i fixed a few but i don't remember the mod. it was so long ago.

I'm guessing (really know) it is a Galaxy radio but we need the model to say exactly what it could be.

It's most likely an AGC problem.

I'm assuming you have tried doing a RX alignment to see if that has any effect ?

Have a look around IC1 & TR12, the problem will most likely be one of them or a diode or electrolytic in that part of the circuit.

IC1 will be a NJM324 / NJM2902 or similar - that can be directly replaced with an LM324

If there are odd squelch problems as well it is highly likely IC1 is your problem
