Hacksaws 69 Camaro

Post by 721HACKSAW » Saturday, 14 March 2009, 16:29 PM

After a few short weeks my 69 convertible has retuned from the body shop. The car was in excelent shape but the paint was 20 years old. It got a coat of PPG Daytona Yellow with white "hockey stick" stripe. A new white convertible top and stainless trim freshen-up is next.

So, what motor is going in it? Stick or auto? Here soon I am going to have to dig my '67 RS-SS out and get to going on it. Paint still in good shape, but it has been sitting ever since I went into the military. BTW Hacksaw, she looks good!!!

I have had several First-gen Camaros over the years, but this is the best by far. It is an original 327 ci, 350 turbo auto car. The original motor had already been bored several times in its long life so I set it aside an installed a 290hp 350 ci crate motor, with a mid-80s 700R4 overdrive automatic and 3:55 rear end gear also. The interior is standard white, with the original AMFM radio still in the dash. Power steering, a power top, and power drum brakes were original. I converted the fronts to power disc. I have owened this car for about 6 years.

Nice. I've always liked first gen Camaros. Sadly though you now almost have to take out a second loan against your house to find a half decent one.

1969 Camaros and 1970 Chevelles are what I consider a rich mans classic American car.
