Jesse's All re-done Suburban Pic's-Again...

Post by jessejamesdallas » Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 18:09 PM

OK...Let's see if I can post the Pic's again!

Just re-did everything in the Suburban from ground-up...Radio, coax, antenna's, mounts, Meter's, Alternators, wiring, and more...

Two Mr. 55 built 55's...

Hank **NON-SPONSOR** Brass Ball Mount's with backing plates...
Image

3/ 300 amp Alternators and mounting bracket kit from Iraggi Alternator in Nashville TN...and K&N cold air intake filter kit.
Image

Image

The Belt Tensioner had to be dropped about a inch, because the belt ended up a little too long, so I fabricated a bracket to drop it.
Image

Distribution Box I made where the charge wires from the Alt's and a 4/0 cable that runs to the back battery bank are connected...
Image
Image

Galaxy 99, Bird Meters, LCD Volt Meter (payed a whole $1 for the volt meter on eBay!)

Still need to replace the coax from the main box to the antenna with RG 217 coax, before I get the New Amp which I will be ordering in a couple of weeks, rest of the coax is all LMR 400...

Will also be building a cabnet for the Amps to go in behind the back seat after the weather warms back up...more to come...

No problem...This time, the Pic's loaded first try! No more error messages. Hope that problem got solved when the database went down...That was frustrating as all get-out!

Changed radios to a Cobra 29 Black Chrome, P&T by Shawn Whitson in AZ who does all of Joe's (at Davemade) radio work...He also added a Variable Power knob to the radio...

I also did away with the Pedestal and built a small console for the Bird and radio using a old seat I had for the covering...

There is a LED Light-Bar that shines down on the front of the meters, but you don't see the LED's just looking down at the radio...just a Blue Glow.

(It looks better in person...Cell Phone Camera just sucks!)

Looks nice an tidy. Put some of that black plastic conduit over those wires in the back for that manly autozone look. As soon as you have all of the kinks worked out, you need to come up here so we can spank my new locals, car to car high pill count style.

Actually...There is some of that conduit stuff on the wires...It just got pulled back when I was installing the console. If you look at the end of the red power wire you'll see it. Just didn't notice when I was taking pictures it wasn't covering all of the wire at the time.

Cool. Folks, this is just another case of it being all about the install. Jesse has nice stuff and installed it well. I still have to wonder when I run into another operator in person, we do the "let me see your stuff" deal, and the guy opens the door and it is a mess. I think I respect the guy with the simple radio, neatly installed, with a mag mount more than the guy with amps and spaghetti wiring. Sometimes it just looks, and is, dangerous. Your mobile is basically your radio knowledge and install resume. When you show it to someone, you're revealing yourself and your real love for the hobby.

Jesse, is the rest of it all in and are you having any time to air that thing out? We need to arrange an on air 45 mile radio check on 28 sometime. My junk is ready when you are. If it is clear we could probably talk back and forth on our drivers.
