anybody ever use this program??

i have run a log file, but don't know what might need fixed from that point. i can paste a copy of it here or email it, if somebody here can help me out with it.

hijackthis is for the REALLY advanced user... go ahead and copyposta the log here ill do a quick run though and see what needs to be turned off.. if your having spyware issues i sugest getting a copy of spybot search and destroy, its freeware and is one of the best progs out to help take it out.. just remember to run these programs in safe mode...

Wish I'd of seen this before.. I hope you have it fixed by now but if you dont.. Most of your problem is un-needed processes causing CPU usage issues.. Java updates.. AOL BS.. But the main problem popped right off the top..

TCINSTALL.EXE may use 15 or more path and file names, The following behaviors have been observed for this object:
Installs programs.
Deletes programs.
Runs other programs.
Creates known malware.

I can tell for sure with the iformation that HJT has supplied here but the svchost.exe files are also used as backdoors for spyware.. CMD prompt "tasklist /svc" should show you which .dll is running in each scvhost.exe.

According to Microsoft: "svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries"
Some time ago, Microsoft started moving all of the functionality from internal Windows services into .dll files instead of .exe files. From a programming perspective this makes more sense for reusability… but the problem is that you can't launch a .dll file directly from Windows, it has to be loaded up from a running executable (.exe). Thus the svchost.exe process was born.

Note: svchost.exe is a process registered as a backdoor vulnerability which may be installed for malicious purposes by an attacker allowing access to your computer from remote locations, stealing passwords, Internet banking and personal data. If unaccounted for, this process should be removed immediately.

Note: svchost.exe is a process which is registered as a trojan. This Trojan allows attackers to access your computer from remote locations, stealing passwords, Internet banking and personal data. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system.

Note: svchost.exe is a process belonging to Microsoft Service Host Process. This could also be a stealth monitoring software that sits in the background and tracks all activities such as keyboard input (including websites visited, passwords etc.) This information can be sent to third parties through email or ftp uploads. If you did not intentionally install this program make sure you remove it to protect your privacy.

Do not remove any of the svchost.exe's with out examining the .dlls being loaded by each running executable and determining if they are malicious in intent..
The above advice on other less advanced spyware programs was good.. HJT is a great program but one of the more advanced user oriented out there.. Adaware 2008 is another easy to use good, free spyware program.

May very well be The source of the problem. Deal with this one the same as the other, One process at a time.. Dont use system restore to do it.. Just my two cents..
